The Great Pumpkins

Ok. In a display of bipartisanship before the election, I carved two pumpkins for the M.D.O.D. crowd. Notice that I put Obama on the left and McCain on the right just for clarity. I'm giving my sister these pumpkins for a raffle at her school. I'm curious to see who brings the highest prize!  Trick or Treat?!? You be the judge. Happy Halloween!  -85

  1. erdoc85,
are you serious? did you really do these? if so, you are in the wrong profession. you could get a NEA grant!

  2. Yeah, I really did them and no, I'm not interested in a grant. I'll pay for my own art work. That way if it sucks, I have only myself to answer to! Thanks! (At least I think you meant the NEA thing as a compliment. They are the people who funded the crucifix in pee aren't they?}

  3. the NEA proved that there is no separation from atheism and state by sponsoring the artist who 'created' a work entitled "piss Christ" which is, i believe, what you are thinking of.

  5. I love em, but where did you get the time? I hope you roasted the Obama seeds and gave them to the "less fortunate" among us.

  6. Yeah, that was it. Another fine example of why the NEA needs more tax dollars!?!

Speaking of "art"....did you hear about the image of Sarah Palin that is hung in effigy outside of a haunted house in West Hollywood? It's considered "art" so it's deemed OK. However a lawyer on TV warned that if anyone tried the same thing with an Obama effigy, it would be a "hate crime"! Is this country going crazy or what?

It's either all "hate crime", all "art", or all freedom of speech. I do know it's all in poor taste.

  9. erdoc85, I hope you don't mind taking a compliment from a 'woman' but your pumpkin carvings are incredible!

Oh, and despite my leftward leanings, I agree with you on the 'art' comment. Poor taste indeed.

  11. Holy crap! My kids thought I was talented for the pumpkins I carved this weekend (posted on my blog if you want to see) but I am going to have to show them yours. (While I have my hand covering everything else here that is inappropriate for them to read of course).

  12. the real question is: will the highest bidder be smashing their pumpkin of choice with a sledgehammer?

  13. Heck, anyone can carve a design with a Knife, do that with a 12 gauge and I'll be impressed. Seriously, good work, and did you know Hilary Clintons birthday was Sunday. She was even wearing a mask.

  14. You must be a surgeon...and a damned good one at that.

    I vote McCain...both ways

  15. So I'm assuming that if one carved a pumpkin of Obama with his hand in my pocket, that would be a hate crime, too? Go for it, ER, and let's see what happens. You don't live in my disgusting state of California, so I bet you could pull it off.

  16. Great job on the pumpkins ER. Be sure and let us all know which one wins.

    just loved cat's post

  17. You're giving them to your sister for a school raffle? Either she's in the third grade and you're Doogie Howser or sis is a teacher (thank God your parents have someone to brag about)

  23. Hey...where is Bob Barr?!?!?! Only kidding....LOL.

The big discussion between my hubby and I over the past several days has been whether to vote for Barr or McCain. We have been really torn.....we have been very disappointed in the direction the Republican party has been going for quite some time. My philosophy is more "I don't care what consenting adults do in their personal life....I just don't want to pay for any of it".

BUT......an Obama presidency with a filibuster proof Senate would be hell on earth.

This kind of helped seal the deal for hubby and I....McCain it will be

BTW.....can you carve me a pin up girl pumpkin? I would love that on my porch!

  24. If you'd done this with an NEA grant, they'd want Jack-o-lanterns in pee... and that would put the candles out.
    Oh, what a paradox!

  25. Information is leaking reporting that Sen. Barack Obama was treated for mental related illnesses in the 70's and early 80's and was prescribed anti-psychotic medications. Schizophrenia is the main reported diagnosis with a case of serve depression. It is suspected that he has not been taking is medications consistently.

  26. Sorry all. Been gone for a little while.

    Thanks for the nice comments.

For anyone still interested, the Obama and McCain pumpkins sold for $25 each. The only clear winner in the "pumpkin election" was the club that my sister sponsors.

  27. My bad ... I thought that was Obama and Hitler.

  28. Close. It's McCain and Marx. :)
