Ha! We're Just Getting Started
I LOVE this story.
If Obama wins, expect more of this. You ain't gettin' what I got. The Socialist States of America can kiss my ass. Oh, and your little whiny, snot-nosed liberal spawn are going to get what they deserve. You can give them their 'soccer participation trophies'...we don't want them. Our children will EARN their trophies, thank you very much.
Mean spirited? Hey, you start screwing with what made this country great and we'll fight back. WE'RE JUST GETTING STARTED.
Lofty's back in the house!

You're not foolin anybody Lofty, I ran your post through my secret decryption device and it reads
ReplyDelete"MUST FLY PLANES INTO TALL BUILDINGS"
Just remember those 9-11 terrorists went to Hooters and watched porn too, good try anyway,
Frank
Imagine if Ben Franklin had taken his "international diplomacy participation trophy" and gone quietly into that good night. I knew Ben Franklin, senator B.O; you are no Ben Franklin (Andrew Johnson maybe, but not Franklin)
ReplyDeleteAw, how could you make a little kid cry, Lofty? As black-hearted as I am, even I couldn't do that. They're innocent. However, I'm not above tossing a rotten egg at the parent's back as they leave my door.
ReplyDeleteKidding, kidding...
Doc Zahari! I am aghast at your outrage and anger. I barely know how to take it. I understand your frustration, but hatred towards humankind is not the answer.
ReplyDeleteWe have to stay united first and foremost. We are DOOMING ourselves, people!
We are rational, and goodhearted and peaceful. But whatever way it goes, we cannot do this without each other!
Please docs, I refuse to believe that all of your elite intelligences cannot understand this!
ooohhh. Dylan Thomas.
ReplyDeleteRage rage. You tell 'em Lofty.
Well, when you move to North Korea in protest, be sure to write.
ReplyDeleteAll bark and no bite.
Well maybe she works in the coal industry and feels a need to conserve her hand-outs, lest she need them for her own family. There's nothing wrong with using your resources, legally, to influence a political outcome to favor your position. After all, we let the left register dead people, illegal aliens, dogs, etc., and as many times as they'd like, too. How is handing out "walking candy" to the right people any different?
ReplyDeleteWhat? No candy? Man, you're uptight...take a deep breath an go vote McCain...it's going to be alright.
ReplyDeleteI admit: denying candy to a kid on Halloween is a bit harsh...
ReplyDeleteShe should have just made her point by ensuring that all of the kids had the same amount of candy... by redistribution if necessary...
PRO
Lynn, Lynn, Lynn.
ReplyDeleteDo we not learn more in defeat than in victory?
Let the little shits take their pile of candy and distribute it equally throughout the neighborhood. You know, in the spirit of socialism and sharing(er, redistributing) the wealth.
Greta, do you REALLY understand my frustration and anger? Do you?
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I (both primary care physicians) paid roughly $110,000 in taxes last year (state and federal) for the same services as someone who made $60,000 and paid $12,000 in taxes. What more would you like us to do?
Are we not doing enough? 10 times the tax burder for the same services???
What next? What more?
lofty,
ReplyDeletethe other thing they want is for you to quit pointing these things out. it gets uncomfortable. another whackjob post from kim jong ill makes it's way into the comment section. nice one 'donger'.
Hey Lofty, doesn't that %15 Social Security tax suck? Only nice thing is it goes away at around 6 figures, like it should. Thanks for getting me interested in Hockey, if only Atlanta had a team.
ReplyDeleteGive 'em hell Lofty
ReplyDeleteLynn, Lynn, Lynn.
ReplyDeleteDo we not learn more in defeat than in victory?
I stand corrected, Lofty. Forgive me for straying.
Just heard an NPR story about the election and how the 'landscape' has changed in an upscale suburb of Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteThe liberal mom being interviewed says to her young child, "Who are voting for, baby?"
The young child in the cutest little liberal voice says, "Obama, mommy."
Mommy says, "Who are we NOT voting for?"
Young child says, "McCain."
Nice. No friggin' candy for your little shithead.
And Mom said, "Thou shalt have no God before me and my child"
ReplyDeleteGreetings Doctors,
ReplyDeleteI'm a first time poster but long time lurker. I quite agree with Doctor Zahari but would go further and not give out candy at all.
First off, Candy is far from a necessity. Second, most trick or treater(at least in my neck of the woods) are from well-off families, let them buy them their bloody candy. Furthermore, while manning the door at my parent's house(yeah, I'm still a young twenty-one year old) not one of 'em so much uttered a thank you. But I guess they never been taught to say thank you in this entitlement society. Lastly, as my father said(my mother is the one who gets the treats), "What are we teaching these kids? That begging is okay?"
Hey did you guys know it's national blogging month or something?
ReplyDeleteAnd your mom said to eat your damn wheaties.
Hey Greta, you sound hot, you weren't by chance an ICU Nurse in North Carolina circa 1991 were you?
ReplyDeleteWhats this "helping people" crap you're talking about, I went into medicine the reason everyone did, to pick up chicks, I mean make mad cash. Only real reason I want to see McCain win is the awesume riots that will occur the next day,
Frank, M.D.
So, what's fair Greta?
ReplyDeleteTell me what else you want me to do. You didn't anwer the question. How much is enough?
45% estate tax? Shall we make it 60%? 70%? 100%? Why? Explain.
Someone making $400,000 in small business should pay....35%...40%...50% back? Why?
What more shall we provide??
Here's my prescription, doc.
ReplyDeleteTonight, stop by the gas station and buy your wife one of those 99 cent roses. Then go home and kiss her on the lips. And look out your window from the house that you've come this far to be able to own and smile at your goddamn fucking neighbor. And then take a deep breath and chill the fuck out! Damn don't you doctors have mini bars?
But I can sit here and comfort you and tell you everything will be ok and it won't make one damn bit of difference because I CAN'T SEE THE FUTURE. We're ALL freakin going forward with our fingers crossed.
And if they decide to take 100% of everything you've got, then you STILL don't go down gnawing at the ankles of your neighbors. GET IT?
And you CONTINUE TO GIVE until you simply fall over and die from just giving to damn much. When you think you can't give one more damn penny or service, you still continue to give, because someone obviously needs it a little fucking more than you.
There's not too many people with your type of intelligence. This blog post was too easy for you.
Great, Greta. You've convinced me to work harder and give it away. Yes, that is what I will do.
ReplyDeleteFuck that.
My kids are going to benefit from my hard work and will have opportunity because of it.
The intelligent shall give all to the less-intelligent. Brilliant.
Greta's a Prostitute, only occupation I can think of thats well paid and not pissed off by confiscatory income tax rates.
ReplyDeleteI still think she sounds hot though.
Then tell me...what the fuck are you going to do with all that intelligence there good doctor? Die with it? Use it to win ridiculous fights with your neighbors?
ReplyDeleteSee, I respect you, but this is where we don't see eye to eye. I see my kids. I see YOUR kids. I see their friends, their cousins, their classmates. That one classmate who doesn't have a winter coat. The other one who doesn't have PE shoes. The other little boy who doesn't have a shot in hell at making it in this whole damn world because his mother and father are lazy crack addicts. And I want to work harder for every last damn one of those little fuckers! Even if it means my daughter can't have that sparkly little book bag that she thinks is going to make her utterly happy and complete. BECAUSE I KNOW IT'S THAT DUMB FUCKING BOOKBAG IS NOT WHAT'S GOING TO MAKE HER HAPPY.
Whew...I'm exhausted! You Doctor Zahari, definetly know how to wear a girl out! Do you like college football?
God, I need a cigarette.
And a hobby.
ReplyDeleteBarack Obama discovers a leak under his sink, so he calls Joe the Plumber to come and fix it.
ReplyDeleteJoe drives to Obama's house, which is located in a very nice neighborhood and where it's clear that all the residents make more than $250,000 per year.
Joe arrives and takes his tools into the house. Joe is led to the room that contains the leaky pipe under a sink. Joe assesses the problem and tells Obama, who is standing near the door, that it's an easy repair that will take less than 10 minutes.
Obama asks Joe how much it will cost.
Joe immediately says, "$9,500."
"$9,500?" Obama asks, stunned. "But you said it's an easy repair!"
"Yes, but what I do is charge a lot more to my clients who make more than $250,000 per year so I can fix the plumbing of everybody who makes less than that for free," explains Joe. "It's always been my philosophy. As a matter of fact, I lobbied government to pass this philosophy as law, and it did pass earlier this year, so now all plumbers have to do business this way. It's known as 'Joe's Fair Plumbing Act of 2008.' Surprised you haven't heard of it, senator."
In spite of that, Obama tells Joe there's no way he's paying that much for a small plumbing repair, so Joe leaves.
Obama spends the next hour flipping through the phone book looking for another plumber, but he finds that all other plumbing businesses listed have gone out of business. Not wanting to pay Joe's price, Obama does nothing.
The leak under Obama's sink goes unrepaired for the next several days.
A week later the leak is so bad that Obama has had to put a bucket under the sink. The bucket fills up quickly and has to be emptied every hour, and there's a risk that the room will flood, so Obama calls Joe and pleads with him to return.
Joe goes back to Obama's house, looks at the leaky pipe, and says "Let's see – this will cost you about $21,000."
"A few days ago you told me it would cost $9,500!" Obama quickly fires back.
Joe explains the reason for the dramatic increase. "Well, because of the 'Joe's Fair Plumbing Act,' a lot of rich people are learning how to fix their own plumbing, so there are fewer of you paying for all the free plumbing I'm doing for the people who make less than $250,000. As a result, the rate I have to charge my wealthy paying customers rises every day.
"Not only that, but for some reason the demand for plumbing work from the group of people who get it for free has skyrocketed, and there's a long waiting list of those who need repairs. This has put a lot of my fellow plumbers out of business, and they're not being replaced – nobody is going into the plumbing business because they know they won't make any money. I'm hurting now too – all thanks to greedy rich people like you who won't pay their fair share."
Obama tries to straighten out the plumber: "Of course you're hurting, Joe! Don't you get it? If all the rich people learn how to fix their own plumbing and you refuse to charge the poorer people for your services, you'll be broke, and then what will you do?"
Joe immediately replies, "Run for president, apparently."
Greta needs to read Atlas Shrugged. I quit 6 years ago. Now I'm a tax deduction busily breeding more tax deductions. Hooray! Definitely gave up my money addiction! Now if only Greta would give up HER addiction to everyone ELSES money!
You sound bitter and defeated Greta, like a Notre Dame fan. Wish they'd join the SEC so Auburn could win a game. So how come sales taxes aren't graduated? Martavius the crack head pays the same %6 for his Malt Licuor that I do for my $750 bottle of Scotch. Probably better not to bring that up.
ReplyDeleteOh dear Anon. I'm gonna try to get a copy of that book! But I must tell you I'm not addicted to other peoples money. Oh my goodness, the mud throwing, huh?
ReplyDeleteThe ONLY point I was trying to get at was that these posts about hateful things, that the doc claims to LOVE, the mean spirited throwing of rotten eggs at other peoples backs, the whole Sarah Palin thing hanging from a noose...all these things are so WRONG. If you agree with me, cool, but if not, I suppose there's not much really I can do anyways. But I'll keep trying! Because I'm kinda silly and I don't like this little notion of quitting.
I suppose I didn't go about it the right way with the name calling was completely inappropriate and hypocritical of me. I am just so good at talking shit, huh?
I really do think that's truly what the doctor was just doing in his post, trying to talk a little smack because of his anger.
But when do we cross the line, you know? When do your words and actions actually cause someone to go out and do something evil and wrong? And other people to support it and laugh at it? And congregate around it and feed it while it breeds?
That's not intelligence! I've read The Lottery, and I've seen the Fog. And that's not intelligence, that's reverting back to primal thinking!
I love you all docs and can't get enough of your posts! It's like this hunger I have...like I got some tapeworms or something.
And goddamnit ANON! I still have more to say. As I look through my posts I rarely said anything about the doctors fucking money!
ReplyDeleteAnd did you ever think that maybe the Obama from your story wouldn't have had to HIRE a plumber, if he hadn't throw so many fucking eggs at him? Maybe, just maybe, instead he stopped spreading the fucking hate and he had made a damn FRIEND who was a plumber.
Why don't you factor that into your little equation?
Yes, I know it's so hard to believe in this negative world that people can still be friends and do simple things for one another, without the expectation of compensation, but it does still exist! I can swear this to you.
And Frank, I think you are hot too.
Oh I am so bitter and defeated :(
ReplyDeleteMy cause is lost upon the callousness of modern civility.
But it was fun!
Greta, the point is this: I was a computer security analyst. I made about what these *evil* money addicted MD's made. With much less time involved and invested in schooling. I made their coin before I was 30. Woo! With no student debt to pay off.
ReplyDeleteOne day I looked at my W2 and noticed that FIFTY FOUR PERCENT of MY money, money that *I* earned through the sweat of my labor was GONE before I ever touched it. In case you didn't notice that means the fedgov in their magnificent benevolence STOLE a MAJORITY of MY paycheck before I ever saw it in order to buy the votes of slackers who couldn't be bothered to actually WORK for a living. That was just the fed and state take. We're not talking local (yes, local) taxes, gas taxes, property taxes, sales taxes and all the other crappy 'support the slackers' taxes we all pay w/o realizing it.
So I quit. When I no longer keep the majority of the money *I* earn it's time to quit. Clearly I'm involved in a losing (to me) game.
So now, I'm a tax deduction (SAHW/M) who is busily breeding more tax deductions. Move over Michelle Duggar, I'm catching up!
You see, the only way to eliminate leviathan is to starve him.
Who is John Galt?
This is what all your 'money addicted' 'evil' doctors will do once they no longer earn enough money to justify the time and ickiness and money involved in college, medschool and residency. You do realize most of these lusers don't actually earn 'evil MD level money' till they're nearly 35, right? Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of dollars of student loans they have to pay back.
We'll be just like England. Most of our doctors will be educated in the 3rd world and the quality of care will follow. Would YOU spend 12 years post high school and $2-300K of your money to earn $50k/yr starting when you're 30+?
Doubtful. Anyone intelligent enough to get into med school will become an environmental activist. Cuz we all know just how *intelligent* THEY really are! LOL.
--the slackful wife
(what's up with the word verification, 'beserf', if you guys are doing this on purpose You'll get my worshipful attention)
"Maybe, just maybe, instead he stopped spreading the fucking hate and he had made a damn FRIEND who was a plumber."
ReplyDeleteFuck that, Greta. My HUSBAND is a plumber. Do you want to know how many "friends" he has now? He works 50+ hours a week and takes on-call 2-3 weekends a MONTH.
So, yah, he has A LOT of time to spend his OFF TIME plumbing for fucking FREE for his "friends." Yes, never mind his own family or house. Those don't matter one iota. It's all about the "friends."
And another thing? We both WORK. We live in a TRAILER on 1 acre of land with 2 cars that are the same age as my kids, 9 and 14 respectively. WHY? Because 15% of MY CHECK goes to our 401K for our retirement. And because that's what we can AFFORD.
That is the most bullshit thing I have heard EVER. Friends are "friends" when you "need" them, or so I have learned.
P.S. My water pressure sucks right now. You want to come over and dig around the yard to see if there is a leak? Cuz my husband doesn't have the motherfucking time. I'm sure you are willing to do that and "GIVE."
Dear Anonymous ex-computer analyst,
ReplyDeleteThomas Jefferson said, "Democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not." Apparently Mr. Nobama has some issues with the authors of the Constitution. This alone is enough to make me run to vote for anybody but this catbird!
Anon, you are right on target. I've accumulated 12+ long years of training in order to be a board-certified ER physician. I'm a blue-collar doctor by trade and I work in the ER armpit of the hospital.
However, I did NOT work my butt off to have the government rob me blind and generously give my money away to the same folks who come in cursing me and assaulting my nurses. Tsk, nobody even sent me a thank-you note for my forced donations! I'm with Lofty. I think I've already given enough at the office, so, I've joined the slackful wife (God bless her!)...
I QUIT! I HAVE QUIT THE ER.
To that end, I'm on strike. Sweet! Maybe now I'll start rollin' in the dough that your buddy Obama is gonna give me, cause you know, I NEED it and all. I'm gonna need that pricey cell phone to make my calls when I go to the ER for my free evaluation of mosquito bites. I'll make sure to call 911 so that I can get a free ride, too. Can't wait to start collecting that unemployment check off the backs of all my liberal working friends. I love you guys and diety-du-jour bless the Social States of America!
Let's see how the Social States cope with finding doctors and other working Americans who suddenly decide that this is not worth it. Me? I'm going to look for Galt's Gulch.
Kisses, group hugs, and non-threatening affirmations of peace and love to all of you,
Q
Oh my goodness, this game is so much fun. I could totally do this for hours. You might think I don't have a job, but I do!!! I swear! I have 2, because I thought I just wasn't having as much fun with 1 as I could with 2!
ReplyDeleteI love these doctors. And their furniture. I didn't say they we're evil. I said the post was was evil and the way other people condone it is very wrong. I guess it just pulls on my sad little heartstrings. More precisely I'm speaking of the actions of the old grey hair in the article who spread her anger to the child, who's going to go home and hit his little brother, and his little brother is going to kick the dog, and the dogs gonna chase the mother fuckin cat, and on and on and on.
And now I can tell that most people just don't care as long as it's not their kid or their dog or their cat.
But little did you know that your kid was friends with my kid and they decided to hit each other at school today, just because they were still so damn pissed.
And then it's right there in your home when you get home from work. Your kids are kicking the crap out of each other because the other kids at school we're grouchy and pissy cuz they didn't get any candy because their stupid ass mother voted for Barack Obama!
Sorry for all the massive confusion people! (Even tho I'm sort of getting off on seeing my name typed over and over). I know the docs are most likely enjoying their almighty power to provoke such emotional discussion and activity on their blog, the kind I can only dream and aspire for, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it...even if they're laughing at me.
And Pink I'm very sorry you don't have any real friends. You sound kinda sad, hmm? We could be friends! And I'll tell you what, I won't even need to borrow your husband! If not, than at least don't give up! There are still people with good hearts!
As long as we don't kill them all with our super fun hate spreading games!
Now lets all go watch Pay it Forward and then read something by Wendy Molyneux.
Oh yeah! And don't forget to vote tomorrow, right? I bet you all are thinking you know who I'm voting for...and you're all SO WRONG!!!
Muahahahahaha!
Is it just me...
ReplyDeleteor are we all having conversations about different topics???
"More precisely I'm speaking of the actions of the old grey hair in the article who spread her anger to the child,"
ReplyDeleteGreta, perhaps she was being kind. Kids today never learn consequences for their actions. I suppose you want everyone to win everytime, so there is never a reward for effort. Everyone can be a slacker together, and no one really tries because you don't need to. We can become a society of pathetic clones.
Or we can teach our children that hard work is rewarded, laziness doesn't pay off, and that they must learn to catch themselves when they fall. Self-reliance is a gift and it is learned.
Just remember "it takes a village."
the mean spirited throwing of rotten eggs at other peoples backs,
ReplyDeleteGood grief, Greta, does your DNA lack the joke gene? Geez, woman, pull your bra straps up - I was kidding.
Thank you AMY!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I said in my very first comment!!!!
Finally SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS!!!!!
I LOVE YOU!
I am so happy at the progress we've all made today!
ReplyDeleteAnd no one killed each other!
And my word verification is buterods, which makes me smile even more!!!
I plan on homeschooling my little dears. The 3yr old can already read. Self defense lessons are next. I plan on teaching her to look out for no one but herself and immediate family. And *never* EVER make enough money to be taxed!.
ReplyDeleteHopefully she'll be a professional student in something useful like mathematics or hard science like her mom started out and then become a happy little breeder.
Hope her sisters follow suit.
Anybody kicks them? dies.
Legless.
Oh, and Pink? If you're still young enough you might want to have another kid or 3. That's going to be your retirement plan. Dems are planning on looting 401K's. You see, it isn't *fair* that some people have retirement 'plans' while others only have social security. You'll be less of a burden on 4 or 5 kids than you will on 2.
Just sayin...
--slackful wife
I'm keeping my 401k in the Caymans.
ReplyDeleteDo we agree???
ReplyDeleteGreta,
ReplyDeleteHow much pot does one have to partake in to rationalize your thought process?
Dont get me wrong, in my yesteryears i tried valiantly to smoke myself retarded. It made pathophys interesting. You on the other hand have succeeded.
Something must be wrong with my browser. I see there's a post, but all it says is "wah wah wah wah wah 2 percent more wah wah wah wah losing my cushy Bush tax break wah wah wah wah."
ReplyDeleteThere's a sale on tissues at Rite Aid.
This isn't even really a political site and you guys are going nuts. I'd hate to see what you would do at my site. By the way just give the kids some candy. That lady makes all Republicans look bad. Lady the kids aren't responsible you how their parents vote. All you did was ensure they would vote the same way when they become adults. Nice going. Moron.
ReplyDeletehello again cannedam! since you post here a lot i am curious. what do you do?
ReplyDeletedear new conservative. i agree with you about the lady not giving candy.
Lofty--Where the HELL do you live that you could MAKE $110,000 doing primary care, much less make so much that you'd have to pay that in taxes?
ReplyDeleteWhere I live, it's the rare primary care doc who can pull more than five figures.
Furthermore, you DO realize that we've had progressive taxation for several generations now. I'd LOVE to earn enough to have to pay those kind of taxes. Hell, I'd love to earn enough to buy Hamburger Helper instead of macaroni and cheese!
911 -- primarily I'm a parent. To help pay the bills I do PR and, when needed or requested, freelance.
ReplyDeleteHey Internist,
ReplyDeleteDidn't you know your specialty sucked ass back in Med School? Doesn't take all that much to pay $110,000 in taxes, ask one of your Cardiology or GI buddies about it. Anesthesia IS primary care. Who else draws up a 10 cc syringe of Neo-Synephrine every morning.
Yes, it takes ALOT of pot to maintain this type of idealism (or retardedness) which ever you prefer.
ReplyDeleteBra Straps Up! Check.
Fingers Crossed! Check.
Vote with confidence! Check.
Ok, this is why I do not care for the left-wing liberals of this country. A family member just sent a video from moveon.org to me and took the added step to personalize it with my name - and this person says they thought I would think it was funny. It actually has one of those church signs that says "All children of God welcomed here - except (my name)". Do liberals have even an iota of common sense, taste, class, tact, or an inner voice which might tell them that this just might be construed as offensive to someone who believes in God? It doesn't surprise me that moveon.org would have something this tasteless - but the fact that liberals take it and actually use it is just beyond comprehension. And this from a person who is actually wanting my help and calling me daily for it. And for the record, I'm praying diligently right now to not say something to this person - but Lord help me, I've got red-hair and PMS - so this could just get ugly!! And God must have a pretty good sense of humor b/c my word verif. is "cator" - too bad it wasn't "gator"!!
ReplyDeleteJust got back from voting. Wife's car is in the shop so we took the crack bus down (had to wear a Change '08 shirt, but it was worth it). Also got a carton of KOOL's when we got back. What a country.
ReplyDeleteCAT: That reminds me of "I Love You Alice B Toklas"--a Peter Sellers movie. He's the conservative type, and he gets a groovy painted VW Love Bus as a loaner. One of my favorite movies.
ReplyDeleteLol - it's sad how low Angry Gramps will go to make his useless point.
ReplyDeleteRant on, Angry Gramps!
Ha! So funny about the trophies. My kids played on a summer bowling league and they handed every kid a trophy at the end of the summer. I was like "Why?" Drives me nuts! Totally takes away a kids drive and his competative edge.
ReplyDeleteNews Flash!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBarack Obama got a majority of the poor/don't pay taxes/ gimme somethin' mister vote.
News Flash!!!!
Ahh that would be 20% of the american population shrod. Last I saw Ohio just went to Obama. God forbid you might actually end up paying taxes at the rates you were back in the go go 90's. The sunset of George Bush and his policies is upon us. Thank God.
ReplyDeletedear anonymous,
ReplyDeletebe careful what you wish for. i guess you have given up on ever achieving the American dream. i have not, and will not. congratulations to Obama. count me a member of the loyal opposition.
you will find, much to your chagrin, that, if Obama does as he promised in the campaign, and increases taxes on those who make over 250k a year, wait, 150k a year, oops, 120k a year, that those of us who have worked to gain a unique and valuable skill, or, worked to start and build a business, will still be looking at you in our rear-view mirrors as you wait, and wait, and wait, for the government to do for you what you should be doing for yourself.
It's two friggin percent. For crying out loud. I've been paying out nearly 50% of my income in taxes for the past 5 years. What I have is a MUCH higher quality of life, a MUCH higher standard of living than I ever experienced in the states. It's not the provincial health care doing that, either. It's that people earn a living wage here. People's homes are protected. We don't have urban blight here. These are things America should be able to realize. Instead, 1 in 10 homes in my former hometown are boarded up and slated for destruction due to foreclosure and subsequent lack of upkeep.
ReplyDeleteDo you not get it? Some people do not have the same opportunities that you or I do. What does it take for your to realize that?
For the first time in many, many years, I am finally proud to of my American brethren as a whole. They got it right. Just let's do the work that needs doing and get over it already.
It'll be nice to not have to lie when traveling abroad and say I'm a Canadian anymore.
cannedam,
ReplyDeletethanks for figuring it all out! after reading your posts i must say that i feel a lot more like i do now than when i got here. thanks.
*chuckle*
ReplyDeleteAnytime, doc, anytime.
At least you've still got your sense of humour. I wonder if the tone of your posts might change now that the ugly battle is over... just curious.
Y'all are so steeped in negativity (it's not healthy you know) I just wonder if some optimism might begin to creep in ....
;)
I am so sick of calling people "less fortunate" Look up the definition of fortunate. There was nothing "fortunate" about me working my way through college and med school, studying, making good grades and making decisions not to fuck up my life with alcohol, drugs, 5-6 wives, etc etc etc. Just like there is nothing "less fortunate" in someone doing just the opposite.
ReplyDeleteLady "fortune" had nothing to do with it.
"be careful what you wish for. i guess you have given up on ever achieving the American dream"
ReplyDeleteThanks 911 I probably make more than some moonlighting ER doc. The difference between you and me is I can see beyond my own pocketbook. Unlike me I guess you must have been a resident back in those big bad 1990's when us poor docs were taxed to hell (those of us making 250K a plus anyways)...not.
dear cannedam,
ReplyDeletedo you not understand 'go away'?
i just read this post at your blog and i have a new, much higher level of dislike for you than i ever could have without reading it. my previous comment was a polite way of telling you to go away, but the 'smiley face' emoticon at the end was too much and nearly caused my aneurysm to burst.
you claim in an earlier comment to live in America and be 'half-Canadian'. you claim now to live in canada. you say that, on your travels abroad, you have been ashamed to be an American. i'm ashamed that i've wasted time because of you and wish my best friend (who has spent the better part of the last eight years killing people who would kill you on site for being an 'infidel') could have put his life on the line for everyone except you.
you confirm every stereotype of the hate-America left. you claim to be a 'domestic goddess' which i guess means you don't have a job (and you think this moniker is clever 18 years after the expression was coined). you are a religious fanatic, only your religion is liberalism, earth-worship, and government-worship. you can not argue logically! you! use! a! lot! of ! exclamation points! and think that arguments are icky and that the person with the strongest feelings is the winner. you have a cat, maybe five or six of them. and here are some guesses...
your parents wonder where they went wrong. your current marriage is tenuous. your husband has quite a bit of money or you are lying about traveling abroad. you watch oprah and the view and think they are 'deep'. you list 'saving $' as an 'interest' but are fully supportive of more taxes for 'rich' people like me.
you post on a physician blog like you are the den mother and get a thrill from the banter as it somehow validates your importance whereas you are otherwise largely ignored by people around you. you see people as members of a group, not individuals. you are focused on race and gender and rail on about how your ex-husband was denied employment because he is black (never at least entertaining the possibility that he was not hired because he wasn't the best person for the job), and decry America for still being mired in racism even though we just elected a black man for president.
instead of this fact proving that we are still, truly, the 'land of opportunity', you, from your lofty perch in canada, still see entrenched racism and sexism.
if you lived in 1930's germany you would be saluting your furher, if you lived in north korea you would have a crush on kim-jong il, and you admire fidel castro and hugo chavez though you might not admit it publicly.
you hate strong men but love them instinctually and this is bothersome to you either consciously or just below the surface. you are always on a diet. you belong to at least one 'support group'. you write letters to the editor. at least one of your children are on psychiatric medication. you do not spank them. they talk back to you. you believe in the concept of "God" and claim to be a "spiritual person" but you do not publicly declare your beliefs because they are always changing.
you love celebrities and their political views are yours. you do not begrudge them their millions but you don't like people who have become wealthy by their own efforts. these people make you uncomfortable. because you have not achieved your dreams you do not want others to achieve theirs. since you realize that saying this would 'sound bad' you support politicians who make you feel comfortable in your mediocrity and who make you feel proud of your efforts to save the earth, whales, prince william sound, or tibet. these same politicians tell you that it's not your fault that you haven't succeeded like you wanted to and that they will make it right for you and everyone like you. you can't see this because you can not bear to look in the mirror at the sad reality of your life. when obama fails you like all previous ones, you will simply vote for the next one who promises to get even for you.
you are comfortable in your adopted country which has a stunning 2% afro-american population but look down your nose at the country that, in spite of what Obama will try to do, promotes individual rights over group rights, and whose soldiers have died to spread freedom around the world so that, among other things, you can sit at your computer, eat bon-bons next to your 'hello kitty' calendar, type whatever you want, post it for all the world to see, raise your children as you see fit, and not fear that war will come to your doorstep tomorrow.
Hey 9-11, watch me do the same thing with 1/100th the effort.
ReplyDelete"HEY ANNONYMOUS, I WOULDN"T EFF YOU WITH BARAK OBAMA'S BIG BLACK D***!!!!!"
Nah, seriously, Great Rant, did you do that Free Style? Impressive,
Frank
911doc makes me laugh so hard my stomach hurts. Well said, sir. Well said.
ReplyDelete911 I am an idiot LOL.
ReplyDeleteWhether or not you think I am a doctor is not the point. I am and I run a practice. I don't collect a paycheck from a company like you do then walk out the door after my shift. I don't argue with you about the issues with medicare reimbursment but I suspect that congress will finally have to do something about it now because seniors can't find docs. The AARP is a much more potent bloc than the AMA. The problems with you and your allies is you have talked about how US healthcare is going to be turned into NHS under Obama. He has done no such thing. You do understand that the government ALEADY controls over 50% of all healthcare dollars from a payor standpoint? (ie over 50% of the money you bring to your hospital comes from the big bad government). This number will get larger not smaller no matter whether a republican or democrat became president There are more important things in life 911 then your personal pocketbook, especially when our deficit has ballooned to the point where our economy is damaged. I don't know how fiscally conservative Obama will end in this economic environment. I suspect the reality of our country's financial situation will not allow him to set up a "new liberal agenda". I do know the present occupant of the White house has spent money like a drunken sailor such that a budget surplus he inherited has turned into a huge and ballooning deficit. This is not fiscal conservatism no matter what platitudes you want to throw out. More of the same is just that.
Do you know ANYTHING about historical tax rates in this country? Since evidently you don't I will show you the historical tax rates going back to the inception of the tax code. As you can see tax rates are far far from the were in the 1930's-1970's but do keep on bringing up Obama "the tax the heck socialist" when you have no understanding of historical tax rates. Read a little history, you will sound less like an idiot.

Annonymous your pathetic attempt to convince us with the tax rates is Futile, I remember those %90 marginal rates, and what you're leavin out is back then you could deduct condoms and lube as business expenses, How do you think the Kennedys got so rich? I run my own practice too, and its doin great, these Hispanic Migrants pay Cash, and they think an ICD code is something you use to sneak into the pool at the Swanky hotel they work at. The Russians are even better. I haven't seen a Native English speaking patient since 2003, Viva la Mexico/Russia!!
ReplyDeletenow i understand anonymous,
ReplyDeletethanks. i'm going to get a chart up here in a minute of the historical marginal tax rate on anonymous douchebag trolls and see where you come out.
Frank: Of course deductions were moderately more "liberal". But not outrageously more than today (I was there too). The fact is if you are well off today or have a small business you need an accountant to maximize business/personal deductions. Frankly I wish it weren't so. Now just WHO was talking about closing deductions this election cycle?
ReplyDeleteThanks 911, when someone gives a well thought out argument what's your response? "anonymous douchebag trolls". What an educated response based on laissez-faire, small government, supply-sided economics. What are you do for an encore? Talk about the size of my testicles?
lol lol another non-response. I see your reasoning, when you can't make an argument...insult.
ReplyDeleteCannedam,
ReplyDeleteJapanese scientist are now developing instruments to measure the increadibly small size of your tiny sycophantic brain. Meanwhile, Living Colour's Cult of Personality plays on and on and on and on and....
Is there a medical term for what's wrong with you people?
ReplyDeleteOr is it simply flawed character?
Big boy pants. Look into them. They're the ones without pictures.
There is a term. It's long so you might have to read slooowly:
ReplyDeleteAntidipshitsocialistpcracebaitercantwealljustgetalongliberalelitedoasisaynotasidoalgoresgiantcarbonfootprintitis.
The only cure is for people like you to take 10 ccs of anti-dipshit and a heaping teaspoon of self-responsibility. It doesn't taste good at first (who wants to take responsibility for themselves?) but in the end, you'll be glad you did.
anon,
ReplyDeleteyou still do not understand what we are saying. the numbers are near and all and we can all take some comfort in them, but it is our belief that since, in the last two weeks Obama has changed the magic number for tax increases from 250k to 120k there is no reason to believe that his tax increases will be small. there is every reason to believe that everyone's taxes will increase and, as a result, unemployment will increase and revenues to the treasury will also decrease. new businesses, like mine, will not be started, and access to care will become harder as I, and many like me, will refuse to take on increased patient loads for less money and more liability. and whatever else you think about us here we are all top notch physicians but are opting out. now I will apply for a job with the VA where I will have regular hours, have nights, weekends, and holidays off, and be law suit proof. based on friends who already work there I will see 5 or 6 patients a day versus the 20 or 30 now, and will simply send the sick ones to the ER. my life just got easier and i just got a raise and better benefits courtesy of, well, you. thanks.
New Hippocratic Oath: "I swear to help anyone, unless they can't pay market value for my services. In which case, fuck 'em."
ReplyDeleteTo Anon 5:58,
ReplyDeleteFor sake of argument, I agree with your statement. Now whats your brilliant retort?
No anonymous 5:58. Have you read this blog at all? Obviously not or it flew right over your microcephalic head. Go back, read again, repeat. Can you say "PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY". Don't hurt yourself - say it slowly.
ReplyDeleteI agree with anon 5:58. Hippocrates didn't have 200,000 in debt and believed in "humors". I got your humor right hear. The day my HVAC, tire repair, atty, and gas co. take that oath, we can talk, fuck face.
ReplyDeletedear anon 5:58
ReplyDeletefinally we have found common ground. i didn't expect to find anything to agree with you on but we do agree on the hippocratic oath as it forbids abortion.
your anger is somewhat misdirected though, all of us that work in emergency medicine and even etotheipi in his lab get paid 30 cents on the dollar right now. we also see everyone who darkens our doors including criminals (took care of a convicted child molester the other night), illegal aliens, and even you, regardless of whether you can pay for your services or not.
you should really be angry at the dentists who insist on being paid for their services. i hate those guys.
finally, i was wondering if you have a job or whether you get a welfare check or have a trust fund. if you have a job come work for me for free for a bit, if not, give me some of your money.
Hippocratic Oaths obsolete, has been for centuries, it forbids abortion, surgery, and takin Swag from Drug Reps, and if that wasn't enough, says you can't talk about your patients, what is this? Russia?!?!?
ReplyDeletedanny noonan in the house. that must be the tea!
ReplyDeleteANON
ReplyDeleteWe all win. We're all getting free shit, cutting back hours to reduce income, and lovin' a brother in the White House. Don't cry for us Argentina. Now go to sleep anon. Oh wait, nevermind. You don't have to work tomorrow, with those checks coming in and your rent paid. Just sit back and jack off all over your free TV and free porn. The only losers will be those waitin' for hours in the ED cause we ain't workin' no mo.
