OldFart divin' in..

1. Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the Communist or Democratic Party?

Never, my mom and dad were extremely conservative remember? I'm a PK. They voted against Kennedy. The Zapruder tape is one of my favorite videos ever...

2. Aside from scoring tons of chicks (or dudes if you are into that), why did you go into medicine?

Completely about Mom's expectation and $$. Man, did I screw up!!

3. If you had a magic wand, what would you change in medicine (and NO, you can't use it on your own penis / vagina)?

Patients "right" to complain about the care they just received for free because they didn't "like" me or they didn't get the "right" pain medicine (always Demerol) or the MRI their "homeopathic physiatrist" told them to come to the ED for and the piss-ant administrative people who believe those complaints are valid!!!!!

4. Summarize the meaning of life in Haiku form.

What the fuck is a
Haiku anyway and who ever
writes them is a fool...

5. Name one book, one movie and one piece of art you would immortalize and one of each that you would destroy permanently.

Man this is a hard one, really, really hard to narrow each catagory down...

Books: The House of God, should be a textbook every pre-med student is required to read!!... the works of Albert Payson Terhune, my childhood favorite

Movie: Hoosiers, A Beautiful Mind, The Godfather Trilogy

Art: The Korean War Memorial (takes my breath away) The works of Thomas Kincaid (lightweight, but just pretty) Landscape with the Fall of Icarus

Books: ALL those "new age" religious, paths of life crappola books...

Movie: All of the Michael Moore bullshit and, better yet, just destroy him! Next, Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth

Art: piss by Andres Serrano paid for by YOUR tax dollars the "National Endowment for the Arts" On second thought, maybe just destroy the National Endowment for the Arts...I GOT YOUR ENDOWMENT RIGHT HERE!!!

6. If you lost your job tomorrow and could not get any job related to medicine, what would you do?

Easy, open a firearms shop and be a hunting outfitter. Just wish I was able to do it now...

7. If you could, one time only, travel back in time, would you do it and what choices would you make differently? If "yes", then, are you insane?

Another softball. I wouldn't get up to pee in the middle of the night last August!..

Am I insane? Are you fuckin' kiddin'??

8. Do you play an instrument? Are you good? (Answering: "Yes, the skin flute, and I'm great!", is not acceptable).

Acoustic Guitar. I was pretty good (before I broke my neck last year!) Hope I can get it back

9. What is the biggest mistake you have made professionally?

Not becoming a radiologist!!!

10. How would you kill yourself if you were forced to move to France?

Drink enough wine to kill an elephant and then, if that didn't do it, eat foi gras(and keep drinking wine) until I finished my self off

11. Worst part of your job?

SIDS or any severely ill/injured child...

12. How certain are you that God does / does not exist? Give percentages.100/0.

100% yes

I am alive after breaking my neck and being a quadriplegic with 1 complete cardiac arrest, ARDS, pneumonia, blood clots, MRSA, and cardiac perforation with cardiac tamponade during my rhythm ablation and I am back to work, (broke) less than 1 year later

There is no question that I am here by the Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and he obviously has something left for me to do. Thanks again for all of you who said a prayer for me during this time.

  1. You are a walking talking(typing) miracle OF. Glad you're back online and at work.

  2. I have not checked this blog in a little while, lots of reading to catch on...

911, you were holding the fort alone for a some time, and no once else cared to post.
But get your blog partners to talk about themselves/be witty/shine, and they coud not resist! Appealing to the egomaniac in all of us. Too funny... That was a very smart move.

  3. no one else (not no once)
Darn. Can't this thing come with spellcheck?

  4. Destined for the "Haiku Hall of Fame"!

  5. Yay!! Oldfart's back!!

  6. Amy-65C: It was actually Etotheipi who wrote the original Q & A in his distinctive, um, style.
Good to hear from you OldFart!

  7. Yes, the dog stories by Albert Payson Terhune are remembered by a lot of us former kids.

    Thanks for reminding me, OF!

  8. That was really inspirational, and I think I needed to read that last bit after watching the mainstream canonization of George Tiller.

  9. Bless ya, Fartie. I've missed ye.

  10. Being a "conservative" doesn't mean you have to be a stereotype or caricature of what you hear on AM radio. I suspect that, like most self-described conservatives, you adopt the customs to fit the mold you've created.

  11. dear anonymous,

having known Oldfart for almost ten years now i can say without hesitation that he is as he says, for better or worse. i find it funny that you, while decrying him for being a stereotypical AM radio conservative ARE, in fact, THE stereotypical anonymous poster. please do keep posting though because it's fun for us.

  12. I too have known OF for many years (since 1992)....the last person who tried to psychoanalyze him was reduced to tears and moved back home with their parents.

He's no caricature. He's 100% the "real deal". If I were only half the man he is....oh, wait, I am!

    Thanks for the laughable psychobabble.
