Now for some good news..

Hey Kids! Most of you know of my story. But for a recap...

I left community practice 3 years ago to attempt to create an Emergency Medicine residency program at a large teaching hospital. This was what I wanted to do for the remainder of my career. I've done it before when I was young and figured I could do it again. Especially since it was in a city I love and call home. They had been trying to do this since before the turn of the century..

Well, my efforts were rewarded. I just got ACGME (American College of Graduate Medical Education) approval for a brand spanking new baby!

We were approved for 13 residents/year. It's the largest Emergency Medicine residency program EVER approved..

Sometimes old folks ROCK!!!!!!!!

  6. Those 13 residents are going to be mighty busy folks, when ObamaCare gets enacted and all ERs become Primary Care Central. runny noses, et al.

  12. Congratulations! Are you accepting resident applicants this year? I'm a long time reader and medical student who's applying to EM programs this year. The more EM spots the better.

  13. Well here's to ya, Farty! I couldn't be happier for you if I were twins. And I'm also thrilled right down to my size 7s that you're feeling better.

  14. Well make sure you don't pass any bad habits along to your impressionable residents. According to MSN, you guys check people's wallets before you decide how well to treat them.

  15. A cynic might suggest that OldFart has his own reasons for surrounding himself with numerous ER docs.

Not me, mind you; I congratulate him! But, a cynic....
